Suma de 5 ítems (1 a 3 cada uno): bilirrubina <2 / 2-3 / >3 mg/dL; albúmina >3,5 / 2,8-3,5 / <2,8 g/dL; INR <1,7 / 1,7-2,3 / >2,3; ascitis; encefalopatía. Clase A 5-6, B 7-9, C 10-15.
Limitaciones
- Pugh 1973 utilizaba la prolongación del tiempo de protrombina (menos de 4 s, 4-6 s, más de 6 s); los umbrales de INR (1,7 y 2,3) son una adaptación posterior. El tramo medio incluye sus límites (bilirrubina 2-3 mg/dL, albúmina 2,8-3,5 g/dL, INR 1,7-2,3).
- La graduación de la ascitis y de la encefalopatía es subjetiva.
